Oregon vs. Weber State: Instant reactions to Ducks' win over Wildcats

Eighteen seconds into the game, Weber State Wildcats center Vasilije Vucinic hit a jump shot, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.

From that point on, only the Oregon Ducks remained.

In their final non-conference game of the 2024-25 season, the Ducks dominated Weber State, winning 89-49. After Jackson Shelstad put the Ducks ahead, 3-2, with a three-point jumper, the Ducks never trailed and led by as many as 41.

The Ducks have overachieved all season, ranking 9th in the country with a 12-1 record. Oregon hasn’t seen many tough opponents, but that’s about to change as they head into conference play.

Oregon vs. Weber State, keys to the game

  • Oregon’s defense was solid for all forty minutes of Saturday’s game. The Wildcats finished with just 49 points on 33% from the field and 14% from deep. Throughout the game, the Ducks used a full-court press, a strategy that coach Dana Altman doesn’t resort to often, but against Weber State it was successful.

  • Unlike Weber State, the Ducks shot efficiently all game. Finishing 55% from the field and 41% from three. Those are Oregon’s highest clips in a game all season.

  • Led by Brandon Angel, Nate Bittle and TJ Bamba – all of whom finished with 7 rebounds – Oregon dominated on the glass. The Ducks’ ability to clean the glass was key to holding Weber State to such a low point total, and Oregon’s nine second-chance points helped the Ducks’ offense extend their lead.
