What you need to know
The Orlando Magic will face the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET at the Kia Center. The Magic limp into the game after a four-game losing streak.
Pundits predicted the Magic would come after a win, but the Raptors made sure that didn’t happen. The Magic suffered a 109-93 loss to the Raptors on Tuesday. Orlando jumped out to an early lead (up by 21 with 4:12 left in the first quarter), but unfortunately, they were unable to maintain that momentum.
Unsurprisingly, given the score, the Magic struggled to work together and finished the game with just 16 assists. They were crushed by their opponents in this department as the Raptors posted 29.
The Trail Blazers had a tough time earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins, it looks like their luck might finally be changing. They came away with a 116-107 victory over the Heat on Tuesday. Portland pushed the score to 97-77 late in the third, a deficit that Miami reduced but never really recovered from.
Deandre Ayton stood out offensively in the game by recording a double-double with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Additionally, he also posted a field goal completion percentage of 78.6%, which is the highest he has posted since December 2024.
Orlando’s loss dropped their record to 23-22. As for Portland, its victory brought its record to 15-28.
Going forward, the Magic are the favorites in this one, as experts expect to see them win by 8.5 points. This contest may not be the best time to bet against the spread since they have let bettors down the last four times they have played.
The Magic won a game that couldn’t have been closer in their previous matchup in April 2024, edging the Trail Blazers 104-103. Do the Magic have another win up their sleeve, or will the Trail Blazers turn things around? We’ll have the answer soon enough.
