North Carolina Tar Heels need any momentum they can get to close their current basketball season, in which they hope to have a late push for the NCAA tournament.
The UNC (16-11, 9-6 ACC) is winner of its last two games: 88-82 in Syracuse on Saturday February 15, then more recently on Wednesday destruction 97-73 of Rival NC State. Orange and Wolfpack are not good this year, but winning matches is important, whatever you beat.
The Northern Carolina offensive clicks in recent games, which means that Jae’lyn Withers is starting. The defense of Tar Heels does not play lights, but well enough to win matches.
The next UNC test comes in the oldest southern rivalry on Saturday, February 22 with Virginie riders in Chapel Hill for a tip at 4 p.m. Despite basketball improved lately, UVA (13-13, 6-9) has a hard time in Bennett post-tonne.
I watched many games passed, especially in Charlottesville, in which the Tar Heels Fight against Virginia’s slow rhythm. The riders still use a half-terrain offense, but do not have the talent this year to win matches with this slower pace.
North Carolina has the series of all time against UVA, but the latter is undoubtedly the winner of rivalry in recent times. Onen broke a long sequence of defeats In John Paul Jones Arena in February 2024, the only match in last year between the two rivals.
Key to victory for UNC
The North Carolina has come out of the doors that shoot against NC State, marking 54 points in the first half on the way to a 28-point advantage at halftime. The Tar Heels extremely well pulled the ball, played a great defense and proved that they were clearly the best team.
The UNC also played with great energy – and put aside the increase in the student population in the dean crowd. North Carolina has probably played with a little additional energy because of its rival in the state, but Wednesday’s result can be a catalyst for any races at the end of the season.
If the Tar Heels play with immense energy early, and are able to force the UVA at a tempo pace, the game will be finished again at halftime.
Something to look at
UNC rolled up with traditional 1-5 programming against NC State. The North Carolina launched RJ Davis and Elliot Gift on the two places on duty, Drake Powell at Small Forward, Jae’lyn Withers in Power Forward and Ven-Allen Lubin in the center.
This programming worked for the Big times Tar Heels. The UNC pulled 57.4% in the field, 40% deeply, exceeded Wolfpack 40-21, generated 17 assists for the six of the State, and doubled the Wolfpack in painting points (52- 26).
It is difficult for teams to win matches when creating four guards, and it is easier for these guards to get tired more quickly. If the North Carolina takes place with Wednesday’s programming against Virginia, could we see another victory for the eruption?
