What you need to know
Jazz fans have better hope that the team plays a hell of a game on Saturday, because the odds are decidedly against them. They will take on the Phoenix Suns at 5 p.m. ET at the Footprint Center.
The Jazz are heading into this one after bettors pegged last week’s low/under at 222.5, but even that proved too high. They fell to the Heat 97-92. Utah has now taken an “L” in back-to-back games.
Unsurprisingly, given the score, the Jazz struggled to work together and finished the game with just 20 assists. They are winless (0-5) when they don’t pass the ball.
Meanwhile, there’s no place like home for the Suns, who bounced back from a tough road loss Tuesday. They won Thursday against the Hawks by a score of 123-115. The over/under has been set at 238 points, so a good job for punters; You were right on the money.
The Suns’ victory was a true team effort, with many players putting in strong performances. Perhaps the best of them was Bradley Beal, who went 11 of 16 on his way to 25 points plus seven rebounds and three steals. Additionally, Beal also posted a 68.8% field goal percentage, which is the highest he’s posted since November 2024. Devin Booker, on the other hand, was considerably less useful: he passed 0 to 8 at long distance.
Utah’s loss dropped its record to 9-27. As for Phoenix, their victory improved their record to 17-19.
While only the Suns took care of their fans in their last game, both teams pleased bettors by covering the spread. Looking ahead, they’re probably looking forward to this one given their 11th spread advantage. This game will be Utah’s 29th straight game as an underdog (so far in that stretch, they are 16-12 ATS).
The Jazz fell short against the Suns in the teams’ last game in December 2024, losing 134-126. Will the Jazz be able to avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll know soon enough.
