Male Basketball Coach of Providence College, Kim English, was sentenced to a fine of $ 5,000 by the Big East for Comments made on the court after his ejection in the second half of the defeat on Wednesday evening against Xavier.
The conference made this announcement in a statement on Monday. The Englishman received two technical faults against the musketeers and was sent to the house’s locker room with 18:38 to play in a 91-82 defeat.
“I want to start by saying this – After my ejection in our last Xavier match, I had words of choice for one of the referees of the game,” said the English after a 75-62 victory against Villanova SATURDAY. “I just want to be clear – it is never my intention to put our college, our conference or our department of athletics in a negative light.”
The press release indicates that the Englishman was sentenced to a fine for “derogatory comments addressed to an official of the game on the field following his ejection”. The English specifically appointed the Brent Hampton referee during certain extended post-match remarks after the Xavier loss to the Amica Mutual Pavilion. Hampton whistled for the two technical faults against English, the first to come at the start of the first half.
“The first technology at 3:11 p.m. Brent Hampton stopped the match,” said English on Wednesday. “They made a 3 and he stopped the match. He told me to tell my assistant coaches to sit down. One got up. I said to him, “They have two upright assistant coaches. In this exact tone. And he said, “Oh, is that how you’re going to do? Is that how you’re going to do? I said, “They have two upright assistant coaches. I have technology.
“At 6:54 p.m., they made a player (Dayvion McKnight) travel on a spin movement. Pat Driscoll, who is a grand referee, was about to call a trip. Brent Hampton is born from nowhere while Justyn Fernandez has her hand on basketball and he calls a fault. They hit a 3. I have to work on our hit at the back of our area to remove the 3 – that’s what we can control. And as they came across the field, I said: “Missing trips were 3 years old. It was at 6:40 p.m. And I had my second technical fault, and (I was) ejected.
“My first and second technical faults of the year for having said that they had two assistant coaches standing and for having said that a missed trip led to a Made 3.”
The musketeers sent the brothers to a fourth consecutive defeat by taking the lead for good in the first half. Xavier set up a 22-0 race to jump forward and used a 24-3 advantage on the line of fault in the second half to help make the difference. Providence tried 59 free throws less than his opponents for 26 games this season and was whistled for 60 more personal faults.
“I look inward of our discipline defensively,” said English on Wednesday. “Why are we rabid? I look at our ability to arrive at painting and create.
“It is the best thing that a coach can have – trust civil servants. Again, consecutive games. Not this one. Creighton, Butler – The opponent pulled (21) free throws, we fired (six). I didn’t say something about arbitration. It’s about us.
The brothers (12-14, 6-9 Big East) are back in action Wednesday evening in Georgetown. Providence defeated the Hoyas, 78-68, at the first meeting on January 25.
