Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe is reportedly out for 10 days with a thigh injury. by ESPNand he could miss the team’s next two games.
The France international will certainly miss Saturday’s La Liga match at Rayo Vallecano, but is a doubt for their match four days later in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final. Real Madrid will travel to Qatar for this competition, formerly known as the Club World Cup, and will face the winner of the meeting between Mexico’s Pachuca and Egypt’s Al Ahly.
Mbappe would not rush into the Intercontinental Cup match, deeming it “counterproductive” if he is not actually ready to return at that time. He could be back for Real Madrid’s clash against Sevilla on December 22, their final match of the calendar year.
He suffered a short-term injury during Real Madrid’s 3-2 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, leaving the game in the first half with what was then an unspecified problem. He had already scored the first goal of the match, only his second Champions League goal for his new club, although it took his tally to 12 goals in all competitions.
This is not the first injury Mbappe has suffered since joining the European champions, although it is another minor injury. He missed September’s 1–1 draw against Atletico Madrid due to a muscle injury, but returned a few days later on that occasion.
