Ruben Amorim said he finally saw progress at Manchester United because players “no longer lose our thoughts” after the reverse.
United came from a goal to beat Real Sociedad 4-1 Thursday to reserve a place in the quarterfinals of the Europa League. After losing four consecutive games in December, the Amorim team is on a round of a defeat in its last six games.
It was a difficult start for the Portuguese coach, but he thinks that players are now taking steps forward.
“I think that in the last games, we understand the idea of what we want to do better,” said Amorim. “We are better to understand the game plan, we give more time for the team to win or draw matches – without conceding a goal and lose your mind and suffer from another goal.
“We understand the moments of the game and we also better understand how we want to play.”
Amorim is preparing for the last match of United before the international break against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
The 40 -year -old must always face an exhausted team thanks to the injuries Lisandro MartínezAmad Diallo, Luke Shaw And Main Kobbie.
However, there is hope that Mason’s support could return to the team against Leicester after more than three months. The midfielder trained this week, but was not ready to face Real Sociedad.
“I really love Mason Mount,” said Amorim. “I see him and I know how he suffered. I know how he does everything correctly – he eats well, his physical appearance is perfect. He tries too much. Maybe he thinks too much. He was a European champion, he is a talent. When a player will do everything like him, he will always have the support of everyone here at the club. We will try to manage the charge.
“We need players like Mason Mount. I think he will be on the bench, we will see.
“We need him and each player. If he’s in good shape, I’m going to take it. He can’t play too many minutes but only five minutes of Mason Mount is perfect.”
