While the Eagles of Philadelphia 2024 claimed Nfl Best team of last season, Shannon Sharpe does not think that she would have beaten one of his former teams, the Ravens of Baltimore 2000, who won the first title of the franchise behind a historically dominant defense.
Sharpe, in response to the recent list of CBS Sports Ranking each Super Bowl champion since 2000believes that the historic defense of the Ravens of the Ravens would have dominated the first 13 teams of the said list.
“I guarantee you, if they allow us to play according to the rules they have respected, not one of these offenses on this defense of Raven,” Sharpe recently said about his podcast. “They will not have more than 14 points.”
Sharpe said that Baltimore’s defense would have managed to contain the Eagles Running Back Saquon Barkley, which this year has become the third ground champion to win the Super Bowl. Barkley rushed to only 57 yards in the Eagles Super Bowl in the Chiefs, but he caught six passes for 40 yards in this match which included a 22 yards that helped Philadelphia Quart.
“He would have 37 against defense (Ravens),” said Sharpe. “You are not running, because you have Sam (Adams) and Goose (Tony Siragusa) and Ray (Lewis) run for free. Ray is hunting.”
Sharpe then referred to the opportunistic and striking secondary of Baltimore which included the future defender of the Rod Woodon renown temple. Sharpe spoke of the fact that the defense of the Ravens 2000 granted only 165 points in the regular season, 36 of these points being abandoned during the victory of week 2 of the team against the Jaguars. Baltimore’s defense then granted only 16 points in four qualifying games which culminated in their 34-7 victory against the Giants in the Super Bowl XXXV.
It is undeniable that the defense of Ravens 2000 was a dominant and historic group that ranks among the best of all time. This group would surely have made life difficult for the Eagles 2024 or one of the recent champions of the Super Bowl. Baltimore also had a dynamic special team which presented the turn around Jermaine Lewis and Matt Stover, who were probably at the top of their respective profession that year.
The Ravens 2000 offensive, however, is the reason why the team has arrived at n ° 24 on our list of superb champions since the beginning of the century.
The Baltimore offensive featured Sharpe, a future temple of fame and one of the best ends tight of all time. He also included the future rusher of 2000 yams Jamal Lewis, Speedster Qadry Ismail and the offensive line of the renowned temple Jonathan Ogden. But the offensive (which spent five weeks during the regular season without scoring a touch) had not much more and they were particularly lacking in the quarter.
While he went 11-1 as a Baltimore starter this season, Trent Dilfer succeeded 12 affected against 11 interceptions during the regular season. He then completed less than 48% of his playoffs in the playoffs. In its last three games from the 2,000 qualifying series, Dilfer recorded completion percentages of 31.3%, 50%and 48%.
It should be noted that Dilfer has launched a single interception in the playoffs (compared to his three passed passes), and his pass of 38 yards touched at Brandon Stokley helped direct the victory of Baltimore over the Giants of the Super Bowl. Dilfer was good enough at the time to help Ravens win the Super Bowl. But when you compare the Ravens 2000 to other recent Super Bowl champions, it is difficult to forget Dilfer and its lack of success that year from a statistical point of view.
Could the Ravens 2000 defeat the 2024 Eagles? It is certainly possible, especially if the game was official as it was at the time. But the absence of the ravens of a set of constant passes would be a clear drawback against the defense of the 2024 Eagles which chose Patrick Mahomes twice in the Super Bowl in more than six bags and a forced escape from the MVP of the League to Two times.
Regarding Barkley, it is prudent to assume that he would not care about the number of meters he obtained against the Ravens, as long as this match took place in the same way as the Super Bowl Lix. One might think that it could possibly be played in the same way, given the talent of the Eagles on the defense and the offensive gaps of the Ravens team.
