Many professional wrestlers now incorporate mixed martial arts maneuvers into their arsenals, adding a touch of realism to what they do in the ring. While the popularity of MMA increases, and with the fact that UFC and WWE now share a parent company in TKO, fans can expect to see more multisgments between the two.
Sonya Deville, who came to WWE, is one of the first adopting women of a ring style centered on the MMA. However, the signing of the MMA version of the four riders, notably Shaya Baszler and Ronda Rousey, may have led the fans to forget the origins of Deville. Deville spoke with “Drazy open radio“To approach this notion.
“When I started, I was the first woman a little with the bottom of the MMA, and so it was cool when it was my character. But, when my character started to evolve, it was a bit like we were starting to drop the MMA stuff, but it was also the moment when they started to sign Ronda, Shayna, Jessamyn, and Marina, the four horses of MMA.
The wrestler born in a jersey expressed the desire to return to a more brutal style alongside Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler.
“I felt like it was a bit of a missed opportunity not to capitalize on that more, in particular with our group group (PFC), I had the impression that it could have been a clearer direction of the place where we were going,” said Deville. “We were three chicks who had enough of the system, anti-authority, who were going to kick ** and take names.”
Deville spoke of talking about “the 30 -second phone call” where she learned of her release from WWE.
