The Real Madrid Champions League Hoodoo weakened on Wednesday during a frantic and exhausting night across the city, but somehow survived a punch of the first minute, a missed penalty from Vinicius Jr. and a wild shooting.

It was tested by Atlético Madrid, by the valiant warriors of Diego Simeone. It was pushed to the edge over 120 brutal minutes.

But Real Madrid, the eternal champions of the Champions League, found a means, and qualified in the quarter -finals, where they will face Arsenal.

They found luck, as they always seem to do, in a penalty shootout, after the regulations finished 1-0 at Atlético, 2-2 in aggregate. During the second lap of the place, Julián Alvarez d’Atleti slipped, and still marked … But the reruns apparently showed that his plant foot had barely cut the ball while he was making it in the roof of the net. Video assistant referees have prohibited conversion.

Jan Oblak, the stoic goalkeeper of Atleti, has made a clutch backup to give life to the hosts. But the magic of Real Madrid reigned. In the fourth round, Marcos Llorente d’Atleti spanked his shot from the transverse bar. In the fifth, Antonio Rüdiger marked – off the palm of Oblak and in the lateral net.

And Los Blancos made a program in the field, still alive, still the kings of Europe until further notice.
