The world champion of sixteen times, Ric Flair, had several major stages and success in his career of professional struggle, but his personal life was spoiled by controversy and tragedy, like the death of his youngest son, Reid Flair, in 2013 at the age of 23.
On what would have been Reid’s 37th anniversary, Ric Flair shared a clip for his son’s segment on “WCW Monday Nitro” alongside Arn Anderson. “Happy Birthday Reid! I love you and I miss you so son! I think of you every day, and don’t be mistaken – you would have been the man!” Flair posted alongside the clip.

At the time of his death, Reid was in competition throughout the fight in Japan pro, where he started his struggle training, and even had a match he won using his father’s finisher, Leglock Figur- OVEN. Tragically, his death would only occur 12 days after the aforementioned match, which happened by chance one day before Wrestlemania 29.
During an interview in 2023, Charlotte Flair explained how she always connects the season of Wrestlemania with her brother because of this, and said that Reid had planned to go home to monitor her in an exhibition match at the time, because it was still in development. Charlotte also said that Reid had been a frequent motivation for her and that she felt closest to him in the race in Wrestlemania.
