The announcement of the WWE-TNA Wrestling partnership this week took the professional wrestling world by storm, although the two have worked together since 2022 with sporadic appearances by TNA wrestlers on WWE shows. Tommy Dreamer, a member of the TNA creative team and former WWE star, shared more details about the new partnership on “Burst open“, starting with the duration of the work.
“Probably what, one year… when you had the crossovers and stuff from the Royal Rumble with Jordynne,” Dreamer said, referring to then-TNA Women’s Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace’s surprise appearance in the match Royal Rumble 2024. “Both companies are owned by separate private companies. No one is going to tell anyone else how to do their own business. We saw the failure of ECW’s creative brand when, if we left it alone, the WWE relaunch, if we left it alone, I thought it was. It could have been great, but that’s another WWE property and it won’t be as successful. or as well done.
Dreamer’s comment was a clarification that TNA is not owned by WWE like ECW was when the brand was revived in 2006. Dreamer said he would question TNA if they asked him to perform a task in the service of WWE. He then stated that he was excited about the exposure of more of the TNA roster.
“If I use Jordynne and Joe Hendry as an example, it turned out to be successful, and so did The Rascals. Zachary Wentz came out of his shell and proved that he can be a great singles wrestler too,” said Dreamer, also praising Wentz’s loss to Wes. Lee at NXT No Mercy while he was TNA .It’s something I’d like to see, but now more things are possible.”
