Tony Ferguson against Dillon Danis seems to be in the plans of the Global Fight League.
Friday, the GFL and Ferguson announced a well -discussed match between the former actual champion of the UFC Ferguson and the former Bellator Prospect Danis for his inaugural season. The match should take place in Lightweight (165 pounds in the GFL) on a date and a place that will not be revealed.
The founder of GFL, Darren Owen, teased his interest in the match in January while addressing “The Ariel Helwani Show” of the MMA of the first MMA draft of the promotion of Unistart.
“We can make the fights that people want to see, and we listen to everyone, right?” Owen said. “Like Tony Ferguson, Dillon Danis – it may be something that will materialize.
“I am a pure and hard fan of MMA, I like sport more than anything. I have always been proud to make exciting matches, but also to make games that people really want to see. It is above all what we are going to do, is to fight the real fights that people want.”
Ferguson (25-11) is a former UFC legendary candidate who has fallen into extremely difficult moments since his light elite discoloration. The 41 -year -old man, nicknamed “El Cucuy”, left UFC in 2024 after losing eight consecutive fights – the longest sequence of defeats in promotional history.
The ignition contrasts strongly with the domination of Ferguson to his peak, while the winner of “Tuf 13” equaled his longtime rival Khabib Nurmagomedov for the second longest victories of the history of the light division of the UFC (12) of 2013-2019.
Danis (2-0) seems to be a man occupied in 2025. The 31-year-old polarizing fighter should box KSI on March 29 under the Boxing Banner Misfits before his return from MMA against Ferguson.
Danis recently participated in a loss of disqualification of October 2023 against Logan Paul in Boxing. His latest fight MMA came in a first round submission victory in 2019 against Max Humphrey in Bellator.
