Bournemouth midfielders Tyler Adams and Borussia Dortmund striker Gio Reyna Highlight the list of 23 players from Mauricio Pocsettino for the last stage of the Concacaf Nations League.
The United States team, aimed at its fourth consecutive CNL title, is expected to face Panama in the semi-finals on March 20 at the Sofi stadium in Los Angeles, the winner who went to the last three days later against Canada or Mexico.
The United States will begin to present itself in Los Angeles for training on March 16.
Since the United States co-hosted the FIFA 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico, the CNL marks a rare chance for the USMNT to play competitive matches.
This summer’s Gold Cup this summer will be the last time the United States will be able to play in a tournament.
“It is a massive opportunity to win a trophy and it is our clear goal,” said Mauricio Pocsettino, manager of the USMNT. “We must continue to show our quality, our bravery and our commitment to each other. We have an important moment to represent our country and our supporters, and we are very excited for this opportunity.”
The return of Adams in particular will give a boost to the United States. The Captain of the US World Cup has fought a variety of injuries since he played Qatar in 2022, including back surgery last summer after COPA America 2024.
He recorded 1167 minutes in 18 appearances, 12 of which begin.
Reyna had trouble breaking the Dortmund range this season. He made 20 appearances in all competitions, but only totaled 540 minutes, scoring two goals. However, hope is that he can add a spark to the American attack.
Otherwise, the list is full of familiar faces. Sixteen players participated in at least one Tournament of the CNL final, six players who participated in the three previous editions: Weston McKennie,, Yunus,, Christian PulisicReyna, Antonee Robinson And Tim Weah.
The list will have an average age of 26 years, 20 days from the first day of training on March 17 with an average of 28 caps and 14 in official competition.
Several players are either injured or who have just returned, including the PSV Eindhoven Trio of Defender Sergiño Destmidfielder Malik Tillman and forward Ricardo Pepi. Leeds United Midfield Brenden Aaronson was left from the list due to what is described as a decision of a coach.
The absence of PEPI due to a knee injury created an opening to the Norwich City striker Josh Sargentwhich was recently in shape with eight goals in their last eight games. A pair of inexperienced attackers in the Charlotte FC Patrick AGYEMANG And the Vancouver Whitecaps’ Brian Whitewill provide depth to the position of the central attacker.
