As the North Carolina Tar Heels try to break out of their rut this college basketball season, they are also trying to recruit for the future.
It’s almost Christmas, making it the perfect time to keep an eye on prospects as cities across the country host a Christmas tournament.
Some UNC coaches will get a piece of the recruiting pie in December and will currently be spending time at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.
There is one star in particular North Carolina has its eyes on: Caleb Holtthird player in the class of 2026, top-ranked player in Georgia and best shooter in the country.
The Tar Heels are seeking a commitment from Holt, whom they tendered in July. Black-smith.
If North Carolina wants to get a commitment from Holt, it will have to beat out 19 other schools eyeing him, including two elite SEC programs in Auburn And Kentucky.
Holt, who now plays high school basketball for Grayson High in Loganville, Ga., is a native of Alabama. Holt’s first season at his new school is off to a good start, as he leads the Rams to a 9-0 start.
Being able to recruit Holt would reassure all UNC fans about the recruiting abilities of Hubert Davis. Despite bringing in 5-star Drake Powell and Ian Jackson in the 2024 class, North Carolina is lagging behind in the 2025 class, with just two commitments from Isaiah Denis and Derek Dixon.
