The Dallas Mavericks were on an astonishing bad luck since Luka Dončić’s trade in Los Angeles Lakers before the deadline of February. Anthony Davis has taken adductive tension after playing only 31 minutes for the team in his very first match since his Dallas exchange. Then was injured in Daniel Gafford, who joined his compatriots Big Men Davis and Dereck Lively II on the sidelines. PJ Washington was in an alignment with an ankle injury, as well as several other role players. The devastating blow came when Kyrie Irving tore her LCA earlier this month, putting her status for next season in doubt and put him the touch for the rest of this season.
In recent weeks, the Mavericks have worked with a skeleton list, regularly running with only eight guys – the minimum of the league to play. It was not easy and the losses accumulated. Dallas has a 33-36 file this season, but has only 2-8 file in its last 10 games. With only 13 games to play, there is no longer much left to play if you are the Mavericks who, despite the final game point in the West, are probably more intrigued by the lottery dimensions than to make a miracle race in the playoffs.
The best course in the future would be that the Mavericks Tank the rest of the season In the hope of jumping higher at the lottery. This means to close the guys who are already injured and prioritize the project. However, Dallas faces a difficult decision as Davis approaches a return.
The Mavericks announced Monday morning that Davis had been attributed to legends of the Gague G League While it accumulates for a potential return. If this news came a month ago, it would be an exciting shock that could shake the photo of the playoffs. But with Irving for the season and a list of laundry of other guys still injured, there are not many reasons for Davis to make a return this season.
Davis is “very impatient” to come back before the end of the season, Per Marc SteinAnd it seems that it is trendy in this direction. But the risk is much higher than the award for Davis and the Mavericks at the moment. Stein reports that Davis is worrying that Davis re-won his injury, which could lead to a setback for the start of next season, and if that happens, the Mavericks’ prospects for next year will be even darker than it is already with Irving who should miss a lot of time. With the history of Davis’s injuries, it would be wise if the Mavericks intervene here and advise him that, as much as he wants to play, it may not be in the best interest of the team’s overview in the future.
We will see if the Mavericks adopt this approach, because we already know that the general manager Nico Harrison makes decisions without the future. But bringing Davis back when it is not entirely healthy, will erase more what was a tense situation in Dallas from the front office and its fans base.

For what it’s worth, Davis was phenomenal in the short passage he played in a Mavericks jersey. He was the Double Dominant Player to whom we expect, by climbing 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in less than a full match. There is no doubt that when he is in good health, Davis is one of the best players in the league. But given the context of the situation in Dallas, it may be better to kick the rest of the season and come back next season with – hopefully – a healthier and more competitive list around Davis to compete.
