This year, the El Paso Times will honor high school athletes each week that you, the readers, help determine. We will accept nominations each week and post a list of finalists for El Paso Children’s Hospital High School Athlete of the Week at 7 a.m. each Tuesday.

Students from all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. Voting will close at 3 p.m. each Thursday and the winners will be announced on Friday.

Here are this week’s nominees:

  • Jocelyne CastroBasketball by the river. She scored 31 points against Chapin and 22 points against San Elizario.

  • Olivia WhitePebble Hills basketball. She scored 33 points in two wins for the Spartans.

  • Devin Falk-Ramirez, Eastwood Basketball. He scored 37 points in two wins last week.

  • Elnathan PieriJefferson basketball. He scored 26 points in the win over Cathedral.

  • Gianna GulleyAndres basketball. She scored 45 points in two games last week.

  • Andruw AndujoAustin boys basketball. He was named the Anthony Holiday Tournament MVP.

  • Richard ArellanoRiverside Basketball, He scored 59 points in three games last week.

  • Joe RodriguezBowie basketball. He scored 24 points in the win over Tornillo.
