What you need to know
The Nuggets will play the full four quarters on Saturday, but they should be done well before that. They will hit the road to take on the Washington Wizards at 7 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena. Both teams suffered a loss in their last match, so they will have a lot of motivation to win the “W”.
Last Thursday, the Nuggets failed against the Cavaliers and fell 126-114.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nikola Jokic, who had a triple-double with 27 points, 20 rebounds and 11 assists. His night made it four straight games in which he scored at least 30 points. The team also received help from Michael Porter Jr., who had 24 points to go along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, the Wizards’ recent rough patch got a little tougher on Thursday after their 16th straight loss. They took a serious blow against the Mavericks, losing 137-101. Washington was surely aware of its point differential disadvantage, but its prescience did nothing to prevent the outcome.
Denver’s loss dropped its record to 11-9. As for Washington, their defeat brought their record to 2-18.
Keep an eye on the arc in Saturday’s game: The Nuggets have been dynamite from deep this season, making 38.7 percent of their threes per game. It’s a different story for the Wizards, as they’ve made just 31.3 percent of their threes this season. Given the Nuggets’ considerable advantage in this area, the Wizards will need to find a way to close this gap.
The Nuggets won against the Wizards in their previous meeting in February by a conclusive 130-110. In that game, the Nuggets took a 72-49 halftime lead, an impressive feat they will look to repeat on Saturday.
