Training in spring is a time for players so that their swing is locked up, to learn a new field, to familiarize themselves with a new job and to troll their best friends. Phillies at the Trea Turner stop assist made sure to train on Sunday afternoon.

Turner challenged a shot called in the very first launch of the Sunday match (Gametracker) against the Blue Jays just to put themselves under the skin of his longtime teammate of the Nationals Max Scherzer. The obvious call was confirmed during the replay, although Turner’s ironic smile tells you everything you need to know about his real intentions:

Turner’s Troll work occurred five days after Scherzer said he was a “little skeptical” about the ABS challenge system after several calls were against him during his beginnings in the spring. “We are humans. Can we be judged by humans?” Scherzer added (via athletics). Turner noticed and made sure to play with his boyfriend in the first opportunity.

“Of course. Not a doubt in my mind,” Scherzer told Sportsnet When he was asked if he thought Turner played with him on Sunday. “… Trea is obviously one of my favorite teammates of all time. We laugh well.”

Turner and Scherzer were teammates with the Nationals from 2015 to 2021, when they were exchanged together at the Dodgers on the deadline. They won a world series with Washington in 2019. It was not two long -standing leaguers who have crossed the stars’ matches. Turner and Scherzer have played together for a very long time.

Honestly, given his competitive nature and his behavior on Mount, I do not think that anyone could have dragged Scherzer and came out as Turner did on Sunday without having been his longtime teammate. Even if his career ends, few launchers in the game are as intimidating as Scherzer.

MLB tests the automatic striking area (ABS for automated bullets and strikes) challenge system this spring. Here is everything you need to know about ABS challengeswhich could come to MLB from 2026.
