East Lansing – Tom Izzo wore a pair of shoes unlike any other Tuesday evening.
The legendary coach of the basketball renowned temple sported a pair of white Nike low with a green swoosh during the 73-51 victory of Michigan Basketball n ° 7 on the Minnesota.
These are the messages scribbled on them in a multicolored marker that bore the emotional impact, the call of the eyes and the uniqueness 1-OF-OF-1. They were written by cancer patients from the Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, and Izzo worn them as part of the week of the American Cancer Society Coaches “Suits and Sneakers”.
“I wore these shoes because they gave them for people who fight cancer in Sparrow, and they signed them all,” Izzo said after the 13th consecutive victory of the Spartans improved them at 9- 0 in the Big Ten and 18-2 overall. “One of the most inspiring things I can do is tell my team that they are fighting to win a match, and there are people who fight for their lives.
“So let’s keep that in perspective a little.”
