Chelsea host Bournemouth in the English Premier League on Tuesday with just three points between the two. Both won in the third round of the FA Cup, with the Blues beating Morecambe and the Cherries eliminating West Bromwich Albion. Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Felix both scored twice as well as a goal from Christopher Nkunku after a saved penalty. Enzo Maresca’s men may have shown they are not title contenders of late, but they are still in contention for a place in the UEFA Champions League. Dango Ouattara scored twice as did Justin Kluivert, Antoine Semenyo and Daniel Jebbison for a ninth unbeaten match in all competitions for Bournemouth this weekend. Andoni Iraola’s side edged out Everton before this and the team are currently positioned to compete for a place in the UEFA competition.

Newcastle United, Manchester City and the Cherries could overtake the Blues this midweek with Maresca’s side knocked out to avoid back-to-back Premier League defeats at Stamford Bridge for the first time since 2023. Bournemouth have made club history recently with an eight-game unbeaten streak in the EPL. only the top two, Liverpool and Arsenal, are doing better without defeat. A hot away goal streak has seen Iraola’s men score multiple goals in their last five away games in the Premier League, although they are winless in six against Chelsea.

Team News

Chelsea: Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Omari Kellyman and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are all absent while Noni Madueke missed Morecambe through illness. Pedro Neto could be the only starter from the weekend to retain his place while Adarabioyo could also retain his role in defense. Josh Acheampong convinced Maresca and should return to the XI.

Possible Chelsea XI: Sanchez; Gusto, Acheampong, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernández, Caicedo; Sancho, Palmer, Neto; Jackson.

Bournemouth: Enes Unal and Evanilson are out long-term while Jebbison returned from his loan spell at Watford and scored. Ouattara or Semenyo should lead the attack with the abandonment of Ben Winterburn. Marcos Senesi, Julian Araujo, Alex Scott, Marcus Tavernier, Luis Sinisterra and Adam Smith are all absent while Max Aarons could join Valencia despite his presence this weekend.

Possible Bournemouth XI: Cross; Hill, Zabarnyi, Huijsen, Kerkez; Christie, cook; Brooks, Kluivert, Ouattara; Seményo.

Prediction

This one should be a Chelsea win, although Bournemouth getting a draw shouldn’t be completely ruled out. Both goals, with the Blues edging the Cherries by a single goal, look just right. Take: Chelsea 2, Bournemouth 1.
