Gan-Erdene Solongo, a junior center 7 feet high on Ensworth boys’ basketball teamhas a story as large as its massive setting.

It’s not just his first TSSAA basketball season, but also his first university season anywhere. The 17 -year -old, from Mongolia, already has thousands of fans in his country of origin.

Solongo, which is half Irish, came to America at 15 on a travel visa and was originally linked to the Flyght Academy, a preparation program in Dayton, Ohio. The academy included accommodation, but after a Solongo season, it had no permanent residence.

Sanderson moved his family to Nashville last year after having resigned from his post in Michigan and obtained a job under the male basketball coach of the first year of Vanderbilt, Mark Byington.
