WWE’s Royal Rumble often features memorable comebacks, but this was anything but.

All that being said, let’s take a trip down memory lane to the 2010s. These are wrestlers you totally forgot competed in WWE.

WWE Tag Team Champions

The Headbangers, Thrasher and Mosh, were a well-known tag team for WWE throughout the Attitude Era. They also succeeded. The Metalheads managed to capture the WWE Tag Team Championships once. However, they were members of the SmackDown roster for a while.

In 2016, the Headbangers made an unexpected return to WWE as members of the SmackDown roster. However, their record during this race was not good. They won and lost three games.

The spiritual team

Mikey and Kenny returned to agitate Dolph Ziggler

WWE Run

2006-2008, 2016

Notable WWE Accomplishments

World Tag Team Champions

Around the time of the draft in 2016, WWE was bringing back older names to fill out rosters. Just like the Headbangers, Team Spirit was also brought back. However, this time it was just Mikey and Kenny.

The Spirit Squad was involved in the high profile storyline going on between Dolph Ziggler and The Miz. They even challenged for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. But, it was an ultimately brief return for the former World Team champions.

Aksana

Aksana was in WWE from 2011 to 2014. She was one of the names that flew under the radar throughout her career there. Aksana’s development was strong, winning the FCW Florida Divas Title and was Queen of the FCW Champion. When she competed, she was often on the losing side of her matches.

She was, however, featured in numerous segments with Teddy Long, Goldust, and Cesaro. But, Aksana never really connected with fans. Since leaving WWE, she has stayed away from the ring.

Damian Sandow

John Cena Damian Sandow Money in the Bank

WWE Run

2003-2007, 2010-2016

Notable WWE Accomplishments

WWE Tag Team Champion, Money in the Bank Winner (2013 World Heavyweight Championship)

It is truly unfortunate that Damian Sandow was a name that was lost to time. When he was in WWE, he was truly one of the most over the top names in the company and fans wanted to see him on top. His character work was excellent no matter what he did.

Sandow was on the main roster from 2012 to 2016. He became WWE Tag Team Champion with The Miz as Damian Mizdow. After his release from WWE, Sandow competed for TNA and the NWA.

The Forgotten Nexus Member: What Happened to Michael Tarver?

The Nexus created several WWE stars from NXT, but Michael Tarver wasn’t one of them.

David Otunga debuted in WWE as a member of The Nexus (where he became WWE Tag Team Champion with John Cena). He was a member of both iterations of the group, led by Wade Barrett and CM Punk respectively. Under the latter, he became WWE Tag Team Champion with Curtis Axel.

After the Nexus broke up, Otunga became legal advisor to Raw general manager John Laurinaitis. But, this scenario did not bring much to Otunga. He became a panelist in WWE before his departure in 2019. He has not wrestled since 2015.

Yoshi Tatsu joined WWE in 2007, but his biggest exposure came in the early to mid-2010s. At WrestleMania 26, he was the winner of a Royal Battle that was not broadcast. Additionally, he was a background name in a feud with Link.

Although he had those few moments to his name, Tatsu was primarily an enhancement talent throughout his time in WWE. His biggest WWE feud was over an action figure that Tyson Kidd had broken.

Rosa Mendes

Best remembered for being on Total Divas

Rosa Mendes

WWE Run

2006-2017

Notable WWE Accomplishments

None

Rosa Mendes has played two different roles throughout her WWE career. While she started out as Beth Phoenix’s intern in the late 2000s, the 2010s saw her fall further and further into obscurity.

Mendes was notable as the director of Primo and Epico. Additionally, she was a main aspect of Total Divas for a few seasons. However, when it came to in-ring action, it was mostly towards the lower card of the company.

Hore

He played Sin Cara twice

HUNICO Cramed

WWE Run

2009-2019

Notable WWE Accomplishments

NXT Tag Team Champion

Many fans remember Sin Cara from when the character was used in WWE. In its greatest history, WWE had the case of two Sin Caras. This led to one of the sins being exposed. But, many fans forget the run he went on after being unmasked.

The unmasked sin Cara continued to be Hunico. He was paired with Camacho, who is Tanga Loa in WWE. However, Hunico did not find much success. Eventually, he returned to playing Sin Cara. After leaving WWE, he began going by Cinta de Oro.

Mason Ryan

Many have called him the next batista

Mason Ryan

WWE Run

2009-2014

Notable WWE Accomplishments

None

Mason Ryan was someone many considered to have the potential to be the next Batista in WWE. He looked like what WWE had often looked for in a top star. However, these comparisons also didn’t benefit Ryan in terms of the course his career took.

WWE tried everything they could to make fans care about Ryan. They put it with the new link, which didn’t work. They made him a babyface, which didn’t help. NXT hasn’t seen him become more popular either. Ryan left WWE in 2014 and has not wrestled since 2015.

He was a protégé of Miz

WWE RAW is home to many memorable title exchanges, but the following ones have slipped fans’ minds.

For a while, it seemed like Alex Riley was destined for something big in WWE. When he was on NXT, back when it was a reality show, he was paired with The Miz. Riley became Miz’s biggest financial backer and eventual apprentice.

Riley ends up arguing with Miz. Surprisingly, he was able to beat his former mentor at Capitol Punishment. But that didn’t really lead anywhere for Riley. In 2013 he became a commentator. However, he briefly returned to the ring in NXT in 2015 and had a feud with Kevin Owens.
