After more than 20 years on traditional television, “WWE Raw” made its live streaming debut on Netflix earlier this month, and The Undertaker was one of many performers on hand to celebrate. Speaking on his podcast, “Six Feet Under” Mark “The Undertaker” Calaway shared his thoughts on the big move.
“It’s absolutely amazing,” Calaway said. “I’m one of the few who was there when ‘Raw’ aired Monday night.”
Although neither Shawn Michaels nor Bruce Prichard were present at the premiere show, both men were present backstage and the three represented the only people who were also present at the original “Raw” premiere. Calaway said the men took a photo together backstage to commemorate the moment.
“This thing is so huge, this deal with Netflix,” Calaway continued. “They had a talent meeting that day and they asked me to stand up and say a few words, I guess as ‘OG.’ Anyway, they expect “Every week, 280 million people potentially watch ‘Raw’ on Monday nights globally.”
Discussing the environment behind the scenes, Calaway noted that it was the most chaotic place he had seen in the last two years. Even though this is the case, the retired wrestler described the attitude as “relaxed” compared to how things were done in WWE.
One of the main reasons for this is the energy that Paul “Triple H” Levesque brought as a behind-the-scenes leader. These days, anyone who walks behind the scenes is bound to come across people filming content for television or for their own social networks, and everyone is a lot less anxious.
“It’s like another day at the office,” Calaway said.
