After the news that Dakota Kai recently underwent a concussion and JD McDonagh had to be hospitalized after his match on “WWE Raw” of last night, it seems that the promotion deals with another injury. Speaking on “Wrestling Observer Radio,” Bryan Alvarez shared that Apollo Crews was injured in his match against Johnny Gargano in “WWE Smackdown” last Friday.
To date, the details on the alleged injury are rare, although it was noted that the crews could be seen to take care of his shoulder area after the match. Alvarez criticized the fact that the three recently injured wrestlers have finished their planned match rather than cutting things so that they can be seen by a doctor. While the co-host Dave Meltzer said that the wrestlers will always choose to pass the match, Alvarez shared his conviction that the company should intervene.
Meltzer noted that there are doctors at the edge of the ring who have the power to cancel the match at any time. However, this almost never happens, and Meltzer said that the doctors hesitated to make this decision because there would be “hell to pay”, although he did not specify if the call would put in Anger Paul “Triple H” Levesque or someone else.
Crews has been with WWE since 2015 and has been debuting on the main list of the following year. Although he has never been strongly pushed, he is a former intercontinental WWE champion and the United States of WWE. The crews also obtained praise for his return to WWE NXT several years ago, with memorable matches against Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, and more.
