It’s been over three years since WWE’s Omos last struck gold, after winning the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships with AJ Styles in April 2021. The key word here is “had ”, as Omos rectified that mistake early Wednesday morning, in a promotion you would never expect him to participate in.
As expected, Omos teamed with Jack Morris at Pro Wrestling NOAH’s New Year’s event this morning, with the duo defeating Naomichi Marufuji and Takashi Suguira to win the GHC Tag Team Championships. Omos earned the victory himself, pinning Marufuji with a two-handed chokeslam, and appeared to have joined the Team 2000X stable, consisting of Morris, Daga, new GHC World Champion Taishi Ozawa, and former star WWE Yoshitatsu.
“I said it in the press conference, I’m the best giant alive,” Omos said in a post-match interview. “There’s no one alive who’s better than me who can come close to lacing my boots…I hear this one being thrown around everywhere, talking about ‘super heavyweights’. I’m not a ‘super heavyweight”, I am a “super megaweight”. Now I am the “Super Megaweight” of this world. No one can touch me, no one can see me.

Yoshi Tatsu: “I will translate it for you! Omos is the number 1 giant on this Earth. We have no enemies left. He is the best giant. He is a living legend. No one can touch me .” . I get it, it is what it is.”#noah_ghc #WWE #Happy New Year Nippon Budokan pic.twitter.com/DimWyct9rY

The victory must be very sweet for Omos, whose career was in question before this fight. Since his WrestleMania 40 match with Brock Lesnar, the giant has only made six appearances on WWE TV or PLE, spending most of 2023 working live events. However, Omos didn’t even have that luxury in 2024, as there is no record of him having competed in a match before today since April 5, where he participated in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal on “SmackDown “.
