With John Cena set to retire as a professional wrestler in 2025, the performer made his return to “WWE Raw” for his Netflix debut, sharing his plans to compete in the Royal Rumble and hopefully on, to win his 17th world title. Appearing on the post-show press conferenceCena was asked if he had any advice to offer his younger self, and the wrestler took the opportunity to reflect on his career.
“I’m very lucky and I try my best every day to understand that life is a gift and I’m just trying to win literally every day,” Cena said. “I didn’t know I was doing it at the time, but I was doing it at the time. I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Cena then joked that, assuming he has access to a time machine, he might decide to become an early investor in BitCoin. Beyond that, Cena looked to the future and acknowledged that he would love to win another world championship, but he also realizes that the odds may be against him. Whether or not he wins another top title, Cena plans to call it quits at the end of this year.
Over the past decade, Cena has gradually made the transition to Hollywood after spending years as a WWE star. Between film and television roles, the wrestler has taken time to return to the society where he made his name, but as he approaches 50, Cena believes his time has come .
“After December, my last match, I’m done,” Cena continued. “You’ll see me in an ambassadorial role in WWE but I won’t wear that. I’ll be in a suit. You’ll see the other sides of John Cena, because honestly we have so many great young superstars today. “Business has been great for me and it’s time to move on.”
