For the most part, fans have remained quite positive about the direction of WWE in 2024, which represents a big improvement compared to recent years in terms of presentation and booking. This year was marked by great storylines, but not everything was perfect, with some stories being very insufficient and even hated by the public.

The 10 Best WWE Signings of 2024, Ranked
These are the best new additions to the WWE roster in 2024! Who tops the list as having the most impact?
The following storylines were bad for a variety of reasons, whether it was WWE’s poor writing, it lasting too long, terrible matches, or poor performances from those involved. Either way, the following scenarios are ones we simply wish didn’t happen in 2024.
7
Bayley Vs. Nia Jax
It was a bland feud that ruined Bayley as Babyface
- Bayley turned babyface and won the WWE Women’s Title
- Nia Jax earned a title shot and feuded with Bayley
- WWE did nothing to make this interesting
Fans were looking forward to Bayley’s WWE Women’s Title reign as a babyface when she defeated Iyo Sky at WrestleMania 40, but bland character work, lack of development and a never-ending feud with Nia Jax were ultimately a recipe for bad storytelling.
The storyline of Bayley fending off Nia Jax lacked creativity on WWE’s part, and it led to a very predictable outcome when they fought at SummerSlam for the WWE Women’s Title, as Jax defeated her. Bayley continued to pursue Jax in the months that followed, but once again the storyline lacked anything to stand out. It was mediocre throughout the match and the fans didn’t buy into it.

The LWO versus Legado Del Fantasma
Fans just didn’t care about this rivalry
- This scenario started in 2023
- The feud seemed endless and had little development
- Fans were cold towards this rivalry every time it was on screen
A feud that lasted from 2023 to 2024 was the long and tiring storyline between LWO and LDF. After Santos Escobar returned to Rey Mysterio, the two factions fought week after week with virtually no development.
It was a painfully uninteresting storyline that failed to elevate Escobar or anyone else. The involvement of people like Carlito and Andrade fell flat, and the WrestleMania 40 tag team match featuring this storyline was one of the worst matches of the two days. The fans were happy when it was finally over.

The arrival of the Pure Fusion collective
This story was dead on arrival
- Sonya Deville returned to align with Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark
- They sought to take over the women’s division
- Fans quickly showed their indifference to their act
For several weeks in 2024, returning Sonya Deville attempted to recruit Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark, but was shunned. She eventually convinced them and got them on her side, and they tried to make an impact by attacking a lot of the members of the RAW women’s division, signaling that they wanted to take over.

The 8 Best AEW Signings of 2024, Ranked
AEW has made several additions to its roster in 2024, but not as many as in previous years. These are AEW’s best signings in 2024.
The storyline ran out of steam very quickly and fans barely reacted to anything they did in their feuds. WWE handled this poorly and it led to fans disliking him.
4
Cody Rhodes Vs. Solo Sikoa
Nobody bought Sikoa as a world title threat
- Solo Sikoa took over The Bloodline and became the top heel of SmackDown
- Sikoa chased the WWE Title for months
- WWE fans hated seeing Sikoa on the main event stage
He may have improved and continues to improve, but Solo Sikoa felt out of place in the main event scene in 2024, and that was no more true than during his storyline with Cody Rhodes where he sought to become the newest undisputed WWE Champion.
Sikoa and Rhodes were feuding for many fans in a lethargic rivalry that fans weren’t particularly fond of. No one really bought into Sikoa as a potential world champion, which made his continued matches with Rhodes and his allies pointless after a while, leading to more disinterest from the WWE audience. Much of Sikoa’s run as a top heel on SmackDown fell flat in 2024.
3
Jimmy Uso vs. Jey Uso
It was a convoluted story with terrible payoffs
- Jimmy Uso’s explanation for his betrayal made no sense
- Their WrestleMania 40 match was horrible
- Their reunion was too hasty given their disagreement
A feud that began in 2023 continued into 2024 as Jimmy Uso feuded with his twin brother Jey Uso. WWE failed to provide a good explanation for Jimmy’s betrayal, leading to a convoluted storyline that confused fans and made it difficult to invest in.
They ultimately fought at WrestleMania 40 in a match that was unsuccessful. The ring work was tricky, the crowd barely reacted, the pace was all over the place and it ended before it had a chance to start. The match was a horrible ending in that regard. Later in 2024, the two settled their differences and reunited, becoming allies in just a few interactions, which was unrealistic.
2
Pride Vs. The Final Testament
This scenario has gone on for far too long
- Fans didn’t care about either faction
- They argued for several months
- It was a shock to see this rivalry have a place at WrestleMania
Two of WWE’s coldest factions in 2024 battled at the start of the year as The Pride took on The Final Testament. Neither team had been booked well by WWE, so of course fans found no reason to care. The feud lasted for several months, causing some disgust among fans.

This all led to a match at WrestleMania that was only saved by the fact that Snoop Dogg was on commentary, which tells you everything you need to know about how much attention fans paid to this storyline. It was very lackluster from start to finish and didn’t benefit either group in the end.
1
Liv Morgan Vs. Rhea Ripley
Fans are fed up with this rivalry
- This scenario has lasted for almost nine months
- It all started promisingly with Dominik Mysterio’s betrayal
- It has become the most exhausting and repetitive storyline in WWE.
Despite a fairly promising start with Liv Morgan’s solid heel work and Dominik Mysterio’s betrayal of Rhea Ripley, the storyline involving Morgan and Ripley gradually became one of the most hated of 2024 in WWE. The scenario has simply dragged on for too long and it seems likely that it will continue until 2025.
Fans are tired of seeing Ripley emerge to brawl with Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez every week, mocked for putting her hands on Mysterio, and then fail to win the women’s world title due to shenanigans. It became tedious, repetitive, and one of the most uninspiring storylines of the entire year.
